An olfactory identity for the Nouvelles Galleries in France

Identité olfactive des Nouvelles Galeries réalisés par Eco French Lab
Nouvelles Galeries Annecy

The Nouvelles Galleries of Annecy are shops, restaurants, concepts and differentiated activities dedicated to facilitating the daily life of Annecy residents in the heart of the city. After more than twelve years of studies, negotiations and works, the New Galleries unfold in a corolla to offer shops and services in a setting adorned with tortoiseshell windows.

A tailor-made olfactory identity

Citynove, which manages the real estate program of the Galeries Lafayette group, entrusted Eco.French.Lab with the creation of 4 olfactory identities that animate this new space with the rhythm of the seasons, 4 smells thought out and designed as an echo of the architecture of the place.

Spring Entering it at the start of the summer season, the scent of red fruits, flowers and wild picking evokes foliage, buds and renewal. The Baie de Printemps scent was created by Karine Boudot: “I worked on this perfume by drawing inspiration from wild picking when I was a child and my associated emotions. I used top notes that discreetly open with wild blackberry punctuated by a sparkling blackcurrant from the woods. To express the first buds that bloom and the first flowers that appear, I chose a freshly cut green foliage accord with wildflowers. Finally, I wanted subtly musky base notes that would flood my formula with vegetal musk, ambrette, and vanilla. »

Summer From mid-June, nature opens its arms to you with the obvious memory of freshly cut green grass. Created by Camille Leguay from the Cinquième Sens workshop, it takes us on a carpet of greenery. “For the Herbe Coupée perfume, I wanted a fresh smell, that of the wind coming from the meadows and mountains that surrounds Lake Annecy and which comes to cover the green and light blades of grass. Around the central heart of mowed grass, I imagined the anchoring of ivy, energizing inflections of grapefruit, blackcurrant leaves, and a softness in the background brought by Musk”.

Autumn It is then September and the evocation of the start of the school year, this childhood moment when we hid under the desk smelling of wood, paper and leather. For this scent called Back to School, Nathalie Feisthauer offers a modern fragrance that concentrates the essence of wood. “I thought of this perfume as a piece of design. Work the material, the wood, keep its texture. Keeping its simplicity and imagining a simple formula that puts the beautiful materials in major. I thought of Danish design. He plays on light and naturalness. »

Winter

Inspired by the surrounding forests and snow-capped peaks, the Noël Rouge fragrance takes up winter quarters with subtle spicy and peppery notes. Oliver Maurel at CPL Aromas takes us on a warm walk in the Annecy mountains.

“I was greatly inspired by the place, the harmony that emanates from it, the selected materials.

I imagined a modernized smell of Christmas in the mountains. I wanted a slightly spicy and above all warm fragrance. This timeless idea of the plaid placed on your shoulders while drinking tea by the fireside in winter. »

The challenges of a successful olfactory project

An olfactory atmosphere must express the spirit of a project through a deep sense of humanity and well-being; a mere pleasant smell is not enough.

For the Nouvelles Galeries d'Annecy, Eco.French.Lab has selected perfumers from various backgrounds with strong and unique personalities so that everyone can bring their own vision and universe.

"We exchanged a lot, evaluated and adjusted the compositions with the Citynove teams to arrive at what the olfactory dressing of the Nouvelles Galeries d'Annecy should be. In the end, 4 creators imagined with us 4 modern compositions, reduced to the essentials, which perfectly reflect the expression of this unique place. Pierrine Miclo Rayssiguier, Eco.French.Lab
